I am not a pirate

Updated: Aug 11, 2019

I'm not big on new year resolutions and goals but I do love the thought of a new year and a blank canvas. Also, the end of the year is so busy for me work-wise that any ideas, plans and things I might like to try, don't even get a look in as I just have to keep going until we close. I have always tried new things even when I struggle and have to really push myself out of my comfort zone to do it. So on one enthusiastic day, New Years eve in fact, having signed myself up for a Pilates class and also a ukulele class, I had to ban myself from touching the laptop in case I signed up for anything else. It was a brave day and they seemed like a good idea at the time. These are things that had been in the back of my mind for awhile and the opportunities presented themselves to me in a too good to say no kind of way. However, a few days before and it's a different story. Ha you're not so brave now laughs that part of my mind that loves to see me fall on my face. So two days before pilates and I decide I have nothing to wear. I don't have a pilates outfit. Having not done pilates before, I'm not even sure what a pilates outfit looks like but having tried a yoga class a couple of times I suspect it is similar in terms of the look. The text said, wear something comfortable. I am guessing they didn't mean p.j's. I suspect their idea of comfortable is probably different to me. Pj's, a sofa and some icecream sounds comfortable; being in a hall with people I don't know, dressed in something stretchy, whilst stretching me, does not really fit in the comfortable bracket. Off I went to the big discount sports shop, husband in tow, me declaring I needed leggings things. I selected a couple of items and also decided I needed suitable baggy t shirts to go with said leggings things. Jeremy spotting the slightly crazed, rabbit in the headlights but determined to succeed in my mission look said, 'don't you need an eye patch and a parrot?' I just looked at him and said, 'it's pilates not piratessssssssss' and off I went to pay. Now I have an outfit I am ready for my class. I may not know what I'm doing but I can look like I do! I shall let you know how that goes!
